I need your help!!

We are planning a roadtrip to “The Great North” (Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota).  If you’ve been reading my blog for awhile now you know that I like weird tacky roadside attractions, restaurants, and hotels.  If anybody knows anything like that in any of those states PLEASE leave me a comment!

  1. The things you find amaze me…I can hardly wait to see what you find on your trip! I really love the pic of the t-pees….something about how they (and the trees) are all aligned makes this very cool – the sun flare is just an added bonus!

  2. You have GOT to go to the Corn Palace in Mitchell, South Dakota. The World’s Largest Soup Kettle is in Laona, Wisconsin. We were lost when we drove past the latter, but I’ve never forgotten it.

  3. Have been through South Dakota, and YES! You MUST go to the Corn Palace. Stop at the School for Indians (forget the name of the area but right on the river). Then Wall Drugstore down the road…kitchy, and many photo ops.

  4. I don’t know anywhere as camp as that row of tents, and you would need to be a basket cast to reside in the second, but if ever you find yourseld in Australias Northern Territory, the Aborigine people run a hotel resort that is in the shape of a giant crocodile, which is well worth a snap or two.

  5. True–one CANNOT miss Wall Drugs! How could I forget? I’ve got q sign right here in my kitchen that reads, “Don’t Miss Wall Drug Wall, South Dakota, 1739 miles.” (I filled in the distance using Mapquest.)

  6. If you’re in Northern Michigan there used to be a huge statue of Paul Bunyan and his ox, Babe. It was near a place called the Mystery Spot where “water would run uphill”. If I can get more detail on just where it is I’ll post back here.

  7. Thank you everyone! I’ll definitely be going to the Corn Palace and Wall Drug. I’ll share all my pictures with you when we get home!
